Visionary Fitness and Leadership Conference

Join some of the industries best Presenters from across North America in this online fitness and leadership conference. Featuring sessions for all corners of the industry, including Fitness, Yoga, Mindset and Business. The Fitness industry is going to look different going forward and we are prepared to increase the tools in our toolbox, pivot with intention and offer strategies that will strengthen the foundation of your fitness business.

All sessions will be online live on May 31, 2020 and available to registrants for one week post conference.

Our Presenters

Robin O'Grady
Robin O'Grady

As an experienced Fitness Professional, Speaker and Mindset Coach Robin is dedicated to delivering strategies and tools that make Wellness achievable for everyone. She is passionate and committed to this ideal as she walks the walk every day, not only coaching her clients but showing them, it can be done.

Robin is a regular Presenter and Educator at facilities and conferences internationally and is proud to be a Certified Mindset Coach, Master Trainer for Lebert Fitness and Assistant Trainer for the AFLCA.

In addition to owning O’Grady Consulting and as Director of Operations at Big Sky Fitness, Robin is a Group Fitness Instructor, Dance Instructor and Martial Artist. With her contagious energy and positive outlook Robin’s sessions are always uplifting and inspiring.

Lynne Skilton-Hayes
Lynne Skilton-Hayes

Lynne Skilton-Hayes is the Fitness Program Supervisor at the University of Guelph where she is responsible for the programming of hundreds of programs for students, faculty, staff and community.  She is a canfitpro and ACE certified group fitness instructor and master personal trainer.  Lynne holds a B.SC. degree and brings over 25 years of education and experience to the fitness industry.  She is an International Fitness Presenter/Educator, Matrix Master trainer, and a PTS and FMA canfitpro ProTrainer.  Lynne was honoured with the prestigious YMCA Woman of Distinction Award in 2017 for her work in the industry.  Lynne has done work for television, print and videos for online curriculum for IDEA Fitness Association.

Joan Carlson
Joan Carlson

Joan has been in the Fitness, Health and Wellness industry for over 35 years working in many different areas; group and individual fitness, fitness/wellness coaching, program development and facility management to name a few. She loves leading a variety of different classes but when not teaching, Joan spends time working with people supporting them as they go through their wellness journey.  In late 2018, Joan started working with Big Sky Fitness as the Director of Group Fitness and Programs . 

Joan has a Bachelor of Physical Education from the University of Alberta and is both an AFLCA and YMCA Trainer of Fitness Leaders.

Carlie Nicol
Carlie Nicol

Carlie has been in the health & wellness industry for 20 years. She is a Group Fitness Instructor and a PRO TRAINER with canfitpro teaching the Fitness Instructor Specialist course, CPR and First Aid.

She has been teaching yoga since 2003 and holds her certificate in Yoga Therapy from MRU. All of Carlie’s classes are looked at with a therapeutic approach to how well we can move our bodies, whether it be from treatment for illness or injury or years of repetitive strain. 

Carlie specializes in working with Active Agers 50+, having completed her Active Aging Coach thru canfitpro in 2017 and Aqua Fitness Certification in 2018.

Aside from teaching yoga, you will also find her teaching various Group Fitness classes – TRX Suspension training, Soul Body Barre Unhitched, Free Style weight and cardio classes.

Michelle Felzmann
Michelle Felzmann

Michelle Felzmann has nearly 30 years of fitness experience, and in that time has acquired a broad range of knowledge and expertise with a major focus on TRX, instructor training, group programming and tennis ball release.  Michelle is an AFLCA certified fitness instructor, TRX master instructor and has 10 years of experience in fitness programming and presenting. Michelle was named one of Canada’s Top Fitness Instructors by Impact Magazine in 2019 and has experience in fitness competitions, television and exercise videos.  Her passion remains the same as day one – to challenge every body to it’s best and greatest potential.

Gary Swarni
Gary Swarni

Gary Swarni has had a successful career in business and as an entrepreneur for 15+ years. He currently runs 3 seperate successful businesses from personal training facilities, construction companies and is the President of Gary Swarni Inc. a business/leadership consulting practise. He has been seriously involved in business/life coaching, business development, leadership programming and sales throughout his entire working career.

 

Gary has broad leadership experience across many different sectors of business. Ranging from High Net worth Bankers, Loan officers, Portfolio Managers, Real Estate brokerage to many different Entrepreneurs.

Simone Hodgkinson
Simone Hodgkinson

Simone has been involved in the fitness & wellness industry for over 25 years.

Her passion for movement began with gymnastics, athletics and dance. Then she moved into the world of Fitness, Sports Science and Psychology and pursued a life as a Teacher of Education and a Professional Yoga and Fitness Coach.

Over the years Simone has written national curriculum based courses for fitness and yoga, had her own fitness column in the local press, written several manuals, presented on TV, produced DVD’s, managed Group Fitness Programs in 3 different Countries, presented at International Conferences and written for newspapers and magazines. She is a Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor and Yoga Teacher.

Originally from the UK, Simone now resides in Canada and she is the director of Physical Yoga, a Bender Ball Master Trainer, a ViPR Group Pro Trainer, a CEC provider for AFLCA and CanFitPro and the Group Fitness Supervisor for the prestigious private members club The Glencoe.

Load Up Your Step with Lynne Skilton-Hayes

Experience this step interval format designed to challenge your cardiovascular system and the strength and endurance of the lower body. Easy to follow athletic step combinations with intervals of lower body strength exercises creates a total lower body blast of a workout. Return to your club with a Monday morning ready class that will give your classes an intensity boost and give your participants the results they crave. You’ll walk away (not easily!) with loads of ideas that can be applied to your current muscle conditioning or step classes.

Dude...Where's My Brain?! The Importance of Brain Exercises in our Fitness Classes with Joan Carlson

These days it is common to hear that our participants enjoy attending many classes because they don’t have to think and they just get to show up and “do”. This is great because it serves a need in our busy world and for our busy clientele. But, along the way are we forgetting that we also need to train the brain?

We will spend this session reviewing the benefits of exercise for maintaining and improving cognitive function as well as experiencing a variety of brain gym exercises. The overall outcome will be to prepare for how we can all implement a few minutes of these exercises into our regular classes and how we can better ride the fitness brain train during this “stay in” period.

Combat Cardio Kickbox with Lynne Skilton-Hayes

Blend heart pounding boot camp inspired power moves with traditional kickboxing drills and combinations. You’ll review critical technique on punches and kicks and learn how to progress drills and combinations with guidelines for safe and effective program design in mind. This workshop is ideal for both a new instructor looking to teach kickbox or the seasoned instructor looking for new ideas for your current kickboxing or athletic classes. Come take a jab at this intense workout!

Spice up your Circuits with Robin O'Grady

So many options, so little time! Circuits are a great way to create excitement and add variety to our classes and sessions. In this session we will review various ways to run a circuit class, keeping the creativity alive for your clientele. As we move into a new way of doing Group Fitness and Group Training, Circuits will be a popular class type, let’s spice it up!

Yoga Adaptations for Active Older Adults with Carlie Nicol

This session will cover standing and seated Hatha yoga postures that have adaptations to them for the active-ager. You will learn postural modifications to suit this population – focusing on standing poses for strength, balance and joint mobility. Seated postures for opening the chest and working thru all movements of the spine.

Carlie has worked with this population for over 15 years from students that have arthritis to more debilitating Neurodegenerative Conditions such as MS or Huntington’s disease, post Cancer care, and Hip & Knee replacements.

Takeaways from this session will give you options for your students as they continue to stay active into their 60’s, 70’s and beyond!

No equipment, no problem! with Michelle Felzmann

This session is designed to produce high intensity training through exercises using only your body weight. Exercises are sequenced together to get your body to work as one unit through all planes of motion. Working through total body exercises is the most efficient and effective way to train. Learn how to train hard with just your body!

How to Create your Successful Online Fitness Business with Gary Swarni

Join Gary Swarni in this informative session on how to create a successful online fitness business. Learn the strategies you need, the tactics to get you there and most importantly, the tools to make it happen. Gary has been seriously involved in business/life coaching, business development, leadership programming and sales throughout his entire working career and he can’t wait to share his experience with you in this session.

Yoga for Stress & Insomnia with Simone Hodgkinson

Stress is on the increase and more and more people are suffering from the negative affects of stress (headaches, insomnia, anxiousness etc). In this session you will experience yoga poses that will calm excess energy, soothe the nervous system and bring stillness to the mind. We will also use guided relaxation techniques to enhance the whole experience. Be prepared to feel amazing. No previous yoga experience required.
